upgrade to xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.99.906-1ubuntu1 - input devices autodetection stopped working

Bug Description

After upgrading the above package, in a Lenovo Thinkpad T61, all input devices stopped working with the exception of the trackpad.
Adding the devices to xorg.conf restores normal operation, but requires manual configuration.

Latest update to xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.0.3-2 restored keyboard, mouse, trackpad and trackpoint to normal operation, but volume keys stills fails to work normally.
