a bug was reported in debian against 4.8.0 replacing brackets [] in the text on a pad by forward slashes // after an xpad restart. The bug only seems to reproduce if the square brackets are highlighted by xpad at the time the application is closed.
To reproduce:
* create a pad and write some text enclosed in brackets;
* quit xpad from the context menu while the brackets on the pad are auto-highlighted;
* restart xpad and open the pad.
See the linked debian bug for more details and contact data of the original reported.
