Bug Description

I am trying to run xpad in my terminal with Ubuntu 14.04 installed on my system.
When I run the following command

shashank@shashank:~$ xpad

The xpad dialog box opens up.After I close the dialogue box, this shows up on the terminal :

[1]+ Segmentation Fault (Core Dumped)

But if I use the following command

shashank@shashank:~$ xpad&

The xpad dialog box opens up.After I close the dialogue box the following statements start appearing on the terminal in an infinite loop.

(xpad:21381): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_destroy: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
(xpad:21381): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
(xpad:21381): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid unclassed pointer in cast to 'XpadSettings'
(xpad:21381): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
(xpad:21381): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: instance with invalid (NULL) class pointer

In some older versions Xpad had this problem.

What version are you using?
If you are not using the latest version, would you mind to give that one a try?

You are using the last version in the ubuntu repositories. A long standing issue, since I have a hard time getting the known Linux distributions to use the latest version of Xpad. The latest version is v4.5

If you can, download, compile and install the latest version of Xpad, which you can find below.
Please let me know, if this solves your issue.

https://launchpad.net/xpad

If you cannot you have to wait until a package maintainer of Ubuntu takes the effort to put the latest version in the Ubuntu repository. Maybe you can file a bug report in Ubuntu stating that the repository is not using the last version?
