Bug Description

Downloaded the Ubuntu downloader, but it constantly quits about 1/2 way thru. I've been trying for days at least 20 attemps, thinking the server traffic was high, but with the same result every time.
I found a downloader for v 10.0x elsewhere, and the download worked flawlessly on the first attempt, so I don't think the problem is on my end. It installed on my computer fine, but having issues so I thought I'd try 11.10

Thanks

Hi Dave,

When you say that you downloaded the "Ubuntu downloader" and it quits about half way through, do you mean that you downloaded a copy of Ubuntu, and when you tried to install it, it failed halfway through? Or did the initial download itself fail halfway through?

If you could elaborate on the problem and what you're seeing when this happens, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Cheers

Hi,

Thank you for your response. First let me say I gave up on my original
plan and went ahead and downloaded the iso. It downloaded without a
hitch, and I am up and running 11.10 on both machines with no trouble.
It's wonderful! Soooo much faster than XP, and totally stable so far (had
lots of trouble with system hangs in 10.xx for some reason doing nothing
but surfing the web)

As for the problem - that would be the download of Ubuntu itself. Never
got to the install portion. (I pressed the big orange button on the wubi
page and that first little utility download worked fine. I started that
little downloader program and everything would look good until there were
around 15 minutes remaining, then nothing. And it would never resume
downloading no matter how long I waited)

Thanks again,
Dave

Glad to hear you're up and running with Ubuntu 10.10.

If you have a minute, can you go into Windows, then hit Start -> Run and type %TEMP% then enter. This will open your temporary files folder. Can you please sort the contents by date, then attach the most recent Wubi log file to this bug report?

Thanks!
