Bug Description

I have installed 10.10 from wubi, and updated to 11.04 when it came out. Yesterday morning (after applying the updates the day before - 4th of october) instead of displaying the GRUB menu after the windows boot menu, a grub prompt appears, probably because of a broken grub configuration. Because I did not have a liveCD or a liveUSB available to chroot in and fix it, I have uninstalled using WUBI from windows, and reinstalled, this time 11.04 directly. After install, applied all updates, and on next restart, the GRUB prompt was there again. So I'd say it's reproducible if installing 11.04 from WUBI and installing the latest updates ( to the default setup). I have reinstalled again, but this time I will not apply the updates, as I don't want to break Ubuntu again. Checked the updates list, nothing seems to be related to GRUB or LINUX, but still something updates the GRUB config or breaks grub. See the markings file attached containing a list of updates available, generated from synaptic with Mark all upgrades, and Save markings.

Question #173372 seems related, also complaining about the latest updates breaking ubuntu, but windows still works.
