Immediate problem when launching Wubi in Vista (32 bit)

When launching Wubi the following error occurs: "Exception Processing Message 0x0000013 Parameters 0x758792A0 0x00000004 0x758792A0 0x758792A0". Nothing can be done to escape this message other than to reboot. OS is Vista Sp1 32bit.

Can you try to run from a DOS console to see if there are any more messages?
Do you have any wubi log / file in your %TEMP% directory?

I just updated Vista to SP2 and then the error message changes.

The header of the error window now reads (in danish) "pyrun.exe - no floppy
disc"

The new error message (in danish) "There is no floppy disc in the drive.
Insert a floppy disc in the drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1". Options are
Cancel, Retry or Continue. But there is still no way past this point.

Any idea what this means?

Is there a wubi.log in your %temp% directory?

I have a similiar Problem in Windows XP and found out that the problem only appears as long as a card reader with empty card slots is connected to the PC.

Thanks for your reply.

This anyhow demonstrates that there is a bug in the software. It shoulden't
be nessesary to disconnect non relevant hardware to use the installer.

Thomas, is your problem also due to a card reader by any chance? Did you try to run wubi.exe from the MSDOS Terminal to see if there are more messages?

Hi all, I had the same problem, too. I use Vista 32 (SP2) and received the same error message. Thanks to your idea I deactivated the driver of the cardreader. Running wubi again I the error message came not up any more - success :-)

Unfortunatelly ther is the German option: "Innerhalb von Windows installieren" missing in the shown menu. - I hope, my log file (attached before) and the screenshot will help you.
