Bug Description

most recent ubuntu 9.04 desktop - i386 fails to instal under wubi. On the second reboot under 'Checking the installation' installing system reaches 100% but freezes when copying installation logs. Tried again with most recent wubi 134 but stalled at exactly same point. Now, however, I cannot remove Ubuntu from windows and I am referred to the wubi 134 log. Please assist. Log file attached.

The problem seems to be:

Permission denied removing C:\ubuntu\disks\boot\grub\default

As a workaround you could remove that manually, and then run the uninstaller

Could you please then try to uninstall/reinstall again to see if the issue remain?
If so could you please also try to repeat with Wubi r129 or r130?

Thanks for your prompt reply.Deletion of the default file was refused until I rebooted and CHKDSK cleared a number of faulty files and indexes including the default file. Then uninstalled Ubuntu successfully and used Wubi r129 [r130 is not available on the download site] to reinstal. No joy, I'm afraid. Installation stalled at the exact same place i.e. when copying installation logs. Again, Ubuntu refused to uninstal and used CHQDSK to delete faulty files. Ubuntu is now uninstalled. If it's any help I am attaching the log file for Wubi r129.
This might not be relevant but I have been seeing problems with Windows XP recently i.e slow start ups, failure to shut down, sluggish performance etc. A comprehensive virus scan picked off a Trojan. Windows performance slightly better and tried reinstalling Ubuntu. No joy still. Same problem.
