Bug Description

The error occurred early into the installation. Tried loading another live cd and reinstall, still the same problem. I'm automatically logged into Windows XP Pro SP3 as administrator

Hi Sir, it happened at the beginning, just 2 to 3 minutes from the start of installation using the live cd wubi installer under WINXP SP3 even though I was logged in as administrator.

Does it happen at the beginning or at the end of the CD ISO extraction
process?

Hmm it seems to be a duplicate of https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/wubi/+bug/207137. Although in that case often the error appears at the end of the ISO extraction operation. A workaround is to use the ISO directly as opposed to the CD. Put wubi.exe and the ISO in the same directory and launch wubi.exe.

Thanks a lot, your solution works. Curiously, why couldn't I install from the live CD on my relatively new  LG 20X DVD Writer with securdisc feature?

Strangely, after using Nero to extract the iso file to DVD, running data verification showed some errors or mismatch. Could this also be the problem? How do I resolve it as I might want to install 9.04 using the live CD on my friend's computer?

Check the md5 of the CD, if it is OK, then you can use the CD elsewhere.

The bug you experienced happens in windows with some ISO extraction software, we have not been able to isolate it, but it is probably due to peculiar combination of factors (see the bug report) and it is unlikely that the same bug will manifest itself on a different machine.

Hi,

I am having the same pb, thanks to you maybe i will have the solution
I am redownloading the iso file using wubi and then once it will crash, as usual, i will copy the file in the same folder as wubi and launch the process..

Had same bug on 9.10. I had created a folder on the desktop to put the wubi.exe and 32bit iso in. Once I moved the data to C: installation went through without errors.

okay guyz, i have faced the same problem, the access denied thing during the installation, and it turns out this problem appears, when you are installing the UBUNTU on other drive but not C, so just install it on C drive, and your problem will be solved.
