I downloaded kubuntu 9.04 iso and placed in the same directory as wubi.exe. When I rebooted to try installing, it left me at a (initramfs) prompt. I am guessing it is because it could not find kubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso.
My analysis:
When wubi runs and finds an already downloaded copy of the iso, it instead creates a "Copy of kubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso" in ubuntu/install dir. The bootloader or initramfs is not able to find kubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso when it reboots and maybe that is why it hangs. |

Edit:
There were 2 files in the same directory as wubi:
- Copy of kubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso
- kubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso
I guess it copied the Copy file and hence the install cold not complete. Maybe it has to do with spaces in the filename? |
