On my old desktop (Intel dualcore) I also got busybox after I updated.
After trying to reinstall, still got busybox!

It is recommended to uninstall and run chkdsk /r first

the chkdsk didn't help!
but i have impression some drivers that where installed on first installation, where not supported anymore after upgrade and reinstallation!

I know there is some log about the installation! But i can't find it!

I experienced the same problem installing Ubuntu 8.04.1 using Wubi on a somewhat older Dell P4 system. Wubi installation inside Windows XP had no problems. On first boot into Ubuntu (to finish installation), I got a Busybox prompt. There were no error messages. I turned the PC off and back on, then tried the failsafe option -- same result. I resorted to uninstalling Wubi, booting from LiveCD and installing the old fashioned way. I experienced no problems. The system is now happily running Ubuntu, but not the Wubi way.

Changed in wubi:

The end result is the same as bug 241847, but the steps to get the result are different. This bug is about a problem installing Ubuntu with Wubi. Bug 241847 is about a problem after a successful installation and installing updates. My next thought was that perhaps this was a problem with the packages included on 8.04.1 (which I was using). The bug was originally reported on 6/21 and the 8.04.1 release date was 7/3, so it was reported with both releases. This particular issue has nothing to do with updates. I suggest that this should not be marked as a duplicate.

I had a similar problem: sometimes (but not always) I got busybox at system start.
I defragmented the drive from windows, using the windows defragger and after then I didn't had the problem anymore.
