Bug Description

- Install Ubuntu Natty (11.04)
- Open Applications > Software Center > Edit > Software Sources > Other Software
- Add "ppa:doctormo/xorg-wizardpen" to Software Sources
- Control + Alternate + T to open Terminal
- Enter:
     sudo apt-get update
- Press Enter
- Enter:
     sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-wizardpen

EXPECTED:
TWA60 works after installing drivers

RESULTS:
TWA60 does not work

NOTES:
- Do note that I'm probably doing it wrong because I'm new to linux
- Tablet also does not work off of a fresh install without installing drivers
- Attempted to follow this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/TabletSetupWizardpen and could not get "cd calibrate" to work, output the error: "No such file or directory"

I should note, I downgraded to 10.04, added the PPA, and downloaded the driver from System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager and it worked perfectly after a reboot.

Is 11.04 going to be supported?

I could make a patch for the kernel making this tablet work with the evdev driver.
This way you wouldn't need wizardpen driver and the tablet would work on default install.

However, you will need to wait until the patch makes it into an Ubuntu release, or use a custom-built kernel.

Unless I find time to make a DKMS package, which will make it work without the need to build the kernel or wait for a new release.

If you agree, I would ask you to do some input dumps and then later test a custom-built kernel.

There's an existing wizardpen functionality being implemented in the wacom kernel driver... from what I understand the wacom driver (and user space) is acting as a standard for other drivers.

This is one of the reasons wizardpen is in sunset mode.

AFAIK, there is not much support for non-wacom tablets there yet. The wacom driver is very complex and demands much from the tablets which inexpensive models cannot provide. I'm not sure if the wacom kernel driver would be a good place to add other tablet suport. However, I plan to make the userspace wacom driver work better with other tablets. Meanwhile, evdev driver does a good enough job.
