Bug Description

I'm sure this has been brought up before, and probably shot down.

I'm not asking for a major design change and I wouldn't mind if it can only be enabled through dconf.

Ever since super-wingpanel was abandoned it's gradually fallen too far behind to be used (no longer compatible with indicators, etc). I've had to make due with inferior panels. Wingpanel is almost the best, but the lack of autohiding makes it slightly less sexy than super-winpanel was, and somewhat obtrusive. I've tried lxpanel and xfce-panel, but they just don't look or work as smoothly as wingpanel with slingshot-launcher and the new pantheon-indicators.

I really want that screen area back when I'm not using the panel, and it bothers me that this enforces a difference between maximized and fullscreen windows. Ideally, the panel should scroll up and away when not used for a few seconds and/or immediately when a window is maximized.
