ubuntu 14.04 beta 1 - winconn no longer works

I've been using winconn for quite a while on my Ubuntu systems.
I create a Win7 ultimate VM using virt-manager and on that win7 vm
I install Kim Knights RemoteAppTool.

I use RemoteAppTool to make Windows Explorer itself a "remoteapp".

As i usually do then I go back to my Ubuntu host and setup WinConn.

However, under Ubuntu 14.04 WinConn no longer seems to work as I can't get the explorer application to launch.

WinConn displays a message that the application is not a "remoteapp".

However, opening a terminal and executing a freerdp CLI:

     $ xfreerdp -u myID -p mypasswd --app --plugin rail --data "||iexplore" -- 192.168.122.89

This DOES work and I am able to successfully launch the Explorer as a remoteapp in its own 'window' on my Ubuntu desktop.

Since the CLI would still be utilizing the very same Windows 7 ultimate VM setup identically I can only assume the difference is in WinConn & Ubuntu 14.04 (I know its a beta but wanted to document the problem)

Hi Brian,
I just tested WinConn with 14.04 Beta 2 and it's working fine for me. Try upgrading your version and see if you still have the problem.

@Parkour -- thanks I'll give it another shot as this was on an earlier beta
release.

I also had a couple email exchanges with the developer of WinConn. He
said he's a bit too busy to add some some of his newer
features to WinConn right now ... BUT ... he did say that he would try to
update it with all the latest bug fixes and package it
for the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS as an updated PPA.

Hopefully, Alex Stanev , the developer can package Winconn as a PPA for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS as Brian Mullan let us know may happen. It would make successful installation much easier for me in Xubuntu 14.04 LTS and I'm certain for many others. Winconn is a great piece of work.
In the mean time for those more knowledgeable than me, an explanation of the best/easiest method to get running in xUbuntu 14.04 LTS would be appreciated.

Since nothing happens for now, it seams that the easiest way (at least for Debian based distros) is to download the .deb package directly from authors site https://launchpad.net/~realender/+archive/ubuntu/winconn/+packages and install it through dpkg -i

The PPA is still missing:

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/realender/winconn/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-amd64/Packages 404 Not Found
W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/realender/winconn/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found

I would suggest closing this Bug report as it is not ubuntu related but related to the application.
