Bug Description

version 0.2 r23 win32
Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit (also tried on 32 bit, gave same error and same solution)
img i am writing: ChromeOS-Vanilla-0.8.71.2010_10_28_1957-rdb7d4e77

I think i know why some people are getting error 8,
at least for me it was because diskimager was trying to acces the floppy drive, while no floppy was inserted.
So i disabled my floppy drive, restarted computer and the program starts without any error.
When i enable the floppy drive again, reboot and start the program it errors out again.

Maybe that's an minor bug for people with an floppy drive?
I don't know if the error will affect any problems while writing to the usb stick, but still its kinda anoiing.

Hope this helped

Sean.

I got "Error 8" as well, but unrelated to floppy drives (which my machine does not have).

In my case, it was just the image file being on a path with spaces and Chinese characters in them (the default download folder for Chinese Windows). Moving the image file to C:/ fixed it.

I also have error 8 but i have windows 7 professional 64 bit and don't have a floppy drive. I was installing it directly to an SD card in the card reader. The IMG i was trying to get on there was Google OS Cherry when you try writing it gives the error code.

Just copy the Image to the directory of the program. I also set the compatibility Mode to "Windows XP Service Pack 3". You should run the program as admin.

This at least helped for me

I have Win7 x64 ultimate with SP1. The image (nookhoney04.img) is just under 4GB and the SD card is 8GB (as reported by windows).

On startup I get 5 popups with "Error 8" and then the app opens up. I can load the img file just fine and the default drive is my microSD card. When I click on write I get an error saying "Not enough space is free" and nothing is written.

I reformatted the microSD with the default setting and the result is FAT32 with 7.39GB free.

I have closed all other apps, no change.

I have tried this on a couple of PCs and I aways get the same result.

Just to test the reader and the microSD, I copied the img to the file system on the microSD card. It took 25 minutes but was successful so I know at least the hardware is working.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ken

This may be fixed with the latest release v0.4 (uploaded today). Please try this version and if it still fails, reopen this bug, thanks.
