Editor in Windows XP suffers high CPU, memory leak

Bug Description

Affects build 17 rc 1 and 2.

When using Windows XP the Editor consumes all available CPU and suffers a memory leak while the mouse is moved on the window. I have not been able to reproduce this on Windows 7 and it has been reported not to affect Ubuntu.

The person who mentioned this on IRC early today had widelands even crash as a result of this.

Could you check with build16 and see whether we have the same behaviour there or whether this is a regression? (Likely is, otherwise we would have heard about it earlier) I think the main change we have had to the editor this cycle has been the undo/redo system.

Build 16:
23s to load Editor
25% CPU in use
340Mb private bytes RAM used
Memory leak present when moving mouse

Build 17rc2:
185s to load Editor
100% CPU in use
905Mb private bytes RAM used
Memory leak present when moving mouse

It seems the problem existed in b16, but has become much more pronounced in b17. The excessive RAM usage is what probably caused the reporter to notice it.

Also it may be relevant that the poor load times on b17rc seemed to get worse as it loaded:
50% loaded in 48s (24s per 25%)
75% loaded in 100s (33s per 25%)
100% loaded in 185s (46s per 25%)

Can someone test this again? I think the leaks are gone now and I think this is fixed committed.

I have tested this with revision 6748 and the editor now behaves as expected.
