Bug Description

I want to be able to choose where the maps are stored and loaded. This would be useful when collaborating on the creation of a new map. For example you could place one map in a dropbox folder and your mate can edit the map together with you with ease. The last path should be stored so that one doesn't have to browse through all the folders each time. Ie. there would be a default path if one doesn't want to use this feature and therefore that person wouldn't be affected.

It is my opinion that this would help people to share and work on maps.

Thanks!

How about simlinking a folder from your dropbox into ~/.widelands/maps.
I am against supporting this kind of configuration in widelands. It
makes the code more complex and will only be used by a fraction of
users.

Im not familiar with simlinking?! However if it is something along the lines of syncing files in one folder with another then it is exactly what I am talking about and my suggestion would be redundant.

Not directly. You make a file/folder and tell it to point to the folder whose content you want to have at this place. So you really leave the dates in the same place as before.

I think it’s really called symlinking (symbolic linking).
