In that branch I didn't do anything to the sources, only to CMake.
I fiddled only with the Step-by-step example, which has two major drawbacks when the one doing it (read: me) doesn't really know what he's doing ;-)
1) it only worked in SDL mode, not in OpenGL
2) It used the default font and colour from the example (which looked pretty cool, by the way)
As I said, I played only sparsely with it, just to see if it works at all and if the integration SDL->Pango works. I was surprised that I even made something work... ^^
