I did it with spectacle. Is there a way to do the capture from within the game for a better quality?

Yes, there is:

Ctrl+F11

Can you also provide a savegame, in case we will need to retake the screenshot in a different format some time in the future?

The screenshot and savegame from #12/#13 have been applied to appdata.xml in r9046 and have also been added to the media repository.

I'll wait for the daily PPA to come through before closing this bug.
