Bug Description

I am using kde with some window effects, like:

* Transparency when moving windows
* "Wobbling windows" when moving windows

If i start widelands these effects do not work anymore. Every window loses such effects. If i close widelands the effects get back.

Is this normal?

Attached a screenshot from kde system compositor settings.

What about other gl tools? for example, if you run glxgears (or glgears? cannot remember the name of the tool), do you see similar behavior?

by design, OpenGL is hermetic for each program. Each process gets a unique gl state that cannot interact with other glstates. If one process interferes with another, that is likely a gl driver bug, if my understanding is correct.

If i run some of the mesa-demos, like glxgears or glxheads all is fine. All windows behaves as they should.

Don't know if this is related: Using "glxsnoop Window-ID" i get sometimes this output when hitting the f-button (crash):

glxsnoop 0x3000008
Keyboard:
  z - display Z buffer
  s - display stencil buffer
f - display front color buffer
  b - display back buffer

Widelands was running just with the splash screen (Press any key or click to continue).

Is that a single-monitor or a multi-monitor setup? Is Widelands running in fullscreen? Compositors like to deactivate themselves when fullscreen apps are running, perhaps the logic there is messed up...

The next step would be to compare other SDL-based games.

My be i have messed up some systemsettings, because for some windows i created "window rules". So f.e. for widelands i set that global hotkeys are disabled to prevent the alt-key is catched by the system window-manager prior wiedelands. Since widelands has changed the shortcuts, i removed this window rule again. To be sure i created a new user, logged into his account but the result is same.

No, in window mode.

> single-monitor or a multi-monitor
Happens on both configurations. Single monitor -> Laptop, multi-monitor -> normal PC

> The next step would be to compare other SDL-based games.
I have no idea which i could choose :) any hints?

What i have noticed is that starting widelands in window mode, the window opens every time in the middle of the screen (vertical and horizontal). On my multimonitor system (two monitors) the window opens every time in the middle of the right monitor. Other windows (file manager, terminal) do not act like that.

Since it is not reproducible, unconfirmed, and not critical at all, i reschedule this.

Ok, i have tried two sdl games:

supertuxcart, which uses a 3d-engine called 'irrlicht'. Here all effects stay and also the window of supertuxcart is 'wobbling' when turning it around.

supertux, a 2d jump and run game. The window of this game acts the same as widelands: No window animations anymore, the window opens ever in the middle at my right screen.

I think the bug is not directly related to widelands so i set this bug as invalid.
