Bug Description

Found by scan-build.

Might be a false positive. Didn't we have some other issue like this which was considered invalid since report_error will actually stop it from returning the value? Not that I can remember how we silenced that one...

False positive. Hopefully gone now. I marked report_error as nocomplete using the new c++11 annotation syntax. If scan-build is clever if will figure out that there is nothing to fear here.
