Bug Description

System W8 64
Wideland 6512

When changing widelans resolution, the game crashes to desktop, or when you start/load a game

(seems like changing from vga to vga 32bit works, but most text gets a white stripe over it)
see attachement

This seems to be the same issue as this:
http://wl.widelands.org/forum/topic/1099/
My installation does not appear to keep a config file. (bug?)
so i can start to program each time, but can only play if i keep the default resolution ( 800x600)
stderr is empty
stdout isnt saying anything:
Sound_Handler: sound effect "click" does not exist!
Loading image pics/progress.png.
SurfaceCache: inserted pics/progress.png, now using 31.00 mb.
SurfaceCache: inserted pics/progress.png:1400:1050, now using 36.61 mb.
Loading image pics/tips_bg.png.
SurfaceCache: inserted pics/tips_bg.png, now using 36.96 mb.

i found some error reports (Report.wer), were this seems to be the cause:
Sig[3].Name=Fault Module Name
Sig[3].Value=libstdc++-6.dll

Thanks for reporting this issue.

I tried to reproduce this issue with r6512, and it keeps crashing when I attempt to launch it in my win8 release preview.

Could someone please try with build 17, as I am fairly sure I did not run into any issues when testing WL on win8 when the first previews became available. I haven't checked with the final versions though, and while I'm tempted to suspect the recent rendering changes, it would be nice to confirm whether or not this is a regression.

Changed in widelands:
importance: Undecided → Critical
milestone: none → build18-rc1
status: New → Confirmed
