this came with the big OpenGL rewrite I think.

This is odd. It works for me, starting as a single player on Crater with bzr6512 in both OpenGL and software mode. Could you please check again and describe your settings exactly? Is this a software vs. OpenGL thing, or does it perhaps depend on the world type?

I could narrow this down to being an all seeing player. To reproduce:

f6 -> wl.Game().players[1].see_all = true -> now build a road.

Thanks for tracking that down. Once I saw that, it become pretty obvious what I did wrong...
