Bug Description
According to this discussion (https:/
Currently the links in the "latest posts" section link to the last post of the topic.
In the topic view of each specific forum the topic titles are linked to the top of the first page of the topic.
It would be usefull if the links of both sections of the website would instead link to the first unread post of the topic for the user clicking on the link. Then one could start reading immediately at the place where the new stuff starts.
This would require that the user is identified either by a cookie or by logging in to the site. The solution with the cookie would have the advantage that one doesn't have to log in if one only wants to read something quickly.
Maybe the cookie could be synchronized with the log-in state (I'm not familiar with these techniques). So if a user logs in from a different device (maybe a tablet) the status of the unread posts could be updated and synchronized with the first device (maybe the PC).
For new users, i.e. users who are not recognized by log-in or by a cookie, the behaviour should not change. In the forum view the first page is the best to start with. And for the "latest posts" section people would expect to get to the new posts. Also for revisiting users who avoid tracking by cookies and don't log in (like I do it often) it would be easier to start at the last post. Especially if the topic has several pages.
There is also the forum overview page that lists only the latest topic of each forum. Currently the links point to the latest post. It should be consistent with the specific forum view.
Thanks for the bug report :-)
