Bug Description
Compaq Presario 1500 with a Netgear WG511 PMCIA card plugged in was configured to automatically connect to certain wireless router at location "A". The laptop was taken to location "B", five miles away from "A", and when turned on showed a connection to the location "A" AP with an IP address of 192.168.1.100. The vertical bar on the system tray icon was solid green, also indicating a strong connection. But, no connection could be made to any web page by either domain name or specific IP address. Wicd would not connect to the unsecured Linksys WRT54G router at location "B" until I purged the config files of any reference to ESSID at location "A". Only then would the scanning show the open Linksys AP and allow it to be selected. I forgot to get the wicd log file.
