Repository is showing 403 Forbidden/404

Yes, I 403'ed it so that you wouldn't get an update that would break Wicd. We're working on it, please hang on a bit :)

Wouldn't it have been better for us users to change the repo file so the new version isn't listed as an update?

Yes, it would have, however, by the time we discovered the issue, I'd already updated the repo, so this was the quickest and easiest solution.

The apt repo now contains the latest 1.6.2.2-1 deb and is functional again.

Perhaps you mean 1.6.2.1-1?

wicd_1.6.2.2-1 does not pick up any new/changed networks that show with 'sudo iwlist wlan0 scan' does.
Backing down to wicd_1.6.2.1-1 to see if that clears the problem... nope. Going back to 1.5.9-2 to see if that clears the problem... yep, that works.
