Bug Description

Hello

I wanted to ask if there is a gnome-applet from gnome3 planned for any version of wicd? I would be very interested in building one similar to the one of networkmanager(nm-applet). I am thinking about porting the wicd-gtk application to a gnome-applet. Upon what should I build my code so that my code does not get unusable too fast? I am asking this as I read something about a wicd 2.0 version and I would not like to recreate my extension from scratch as soon as the new version is out. Can you give me some guide about how to start?
