wicd not showing in system tray

Bug Description

While trying to get airport working in my Imac G5 I've followed the instructions provided in this post (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=12164548&postcount=20). After reboot the wicd icon does not appear in the system tray (upper right).
Also, when I select wicd from internet/wicd network manager does not start.

Airport card still not working.

Have you tried these instructions to get the Wicd tray icon to appear in the sys tray?
