Debian Squeeze. wicd 1.7.0(?)
I had this problem when I had an installation without a graphical environment. Wicd-curses could apparently set the options for a hidden network, but would always fail to connect. This immediately ceased, when I installed and had run the GUI-client (and then restarted without the graphical environment). I'm sorry I don't have any relevant log, but I hope the bug is obvious in code.

BTW if anyone could describe a sure way to purge ALL my wireless settings (without thrashing the rest of my installation), I'd be willing to see if I could produce a log.
