Bug Description
Loading in images can take a lot of RAM. opening a 10-page PDF, creating 10 images (inside 10 tabs, with 10 new thumbnails) took RAM usage from 33.8MB to 82MB!
must look into it

Changes to the PDF generation will hopefully improve things.
