Bug Description

Per my message to the Help forum, the set default blocks for new users is not allowing me to edit and shows duplicates that can't be removed. No option to set left and right blocks. Window does not appear as 'normal' per the file uploaded to Help forum.

To set default blocks for new family trees, the options that appear are duplicated but edit window appears as it does on My Page or the Home Page. See file uploaded to Help forum.

Your forum posts says this error appears:

ERROR 8: Undefined index: user_favouritress0

Apart from the typo, can you get the whole message out? It should have more that will tell us what file and line the error occurs on. If not in the block, you should find it in Administration -> Site logs. Select "errors" from the filter options.

This should be it as it shows up several times (each attempt):

012-06-09 20:35:05 error ERROR 8: Undefined index: user_favorites; 0 Error occurred on line 283 of file index_edit.php

Thanks, yes that tells us that webtrees can't find a user_favorites block. Can you tell me:
1 - In webtrees/modules_v3/ do you have a folder called "user_favorites", and does it contain a file called module.php?
2 - In Administration -> Modules, do you see two versions of the module "Favorites", and are they both ticked as "enabled"?

If the answer to 2 is 'no', what other modules are not enabled?

Hi,
#1 > yes, I have the folder
#2 > Yes, I have 2, one for family one for user's. I see user's enabled not family tree however if these are new they must have installed this way as I don't recall checking them upon install of first webtrees version (I did my playing at that time).

Others not enabled by me:
Album
Clipping cart
Favorites family tree (not me that I remember)
Most viewed pages
Sitemaps
Occupations
Places assistant
Slide show
Top given names
Top surnames

OK, that might be part of the problem.

Can you tick enabled for these (the others don't matter):
Favorites family tree
Slide show
Top given names
Top surnames

Don't forget to SAVE, then refresh the admin page and try the Users - Set default blocks again to see if that helps.

Tried again (logged out/clear cache/login > didn't work (set default USERS)

(I finally found how to post here)

For now, set these blocks to show to everyone, then you can edit the defaults, then reset your viewing preferences.

That will resolve your problem until we can find and fix the bugs.

Favorites Display and manage a user’s favorite pages. WAS ALREADY SET TO MEMBERS

>CLICKED SAVE<

Wasn't sure if "everyone" was members or visitors.

Changing this bug to "will not fix". The remedy described in #7 above works fine, and the problem then no longer exists. It will also not be an issue in subsequent upgrades as this one related only to a specific change to the administration code for these blocks.

The simple fix at #7 above turns out to not be a simple work around in my case.

I have now spent around 45 minutes attempting various combinations of settings, running into undefined index errors etc.

Happy to live with a won't fix, but the work around did not work for me. Revert to 1.2.7

If you plan on reverting to 1.2.7 please read this forum post first.

http://webtrees.net/en/forums/2-open-discussion/24267-webtrees-130-why-you-should-upgrade

Then if you fel your news block is more important than the security of your whole site you can go ahead.

Alternatively, give us some more details on what you have tried, or even send temporary admin access to me and I'll fix the problem or you.
