Bug Description

Currently I need to run both weather-wallpaper and weather-applet to get my wallpaper and the temperature in the panel.

It would be nice to merge both projects.

I think there's no way to display text on the notification area, at least using gtk.StatusIcon.
That would mean it would have to be converted it to an applet instead of an application which just shows an status icon. But then the users would need more steps to use the application...
I really don't know what's better...

With the older EggTrayIcon it used to be possible to add text to the notification area. GTimeLog does it: http://mg.pov.lt/gtimelog/trac/browser/gtimelog.py#L714

The downside, of course, is that you can't place the notification icon anywhere you want, like you can with an applet.

How about making weather-wallpaper extract the location from the weather-applet gconf key, so you won't have to configure your location in two places?
