Regarding the "deep integration" of today's forecast into the top part of the menu: I would still like to see the large icon at the top of the menu turned into a "Today:"/"Tonight:" box with a large forecast icon and high/low temperatures next to it (or in small text underneath?) Panagiotis, I agree with your reluctance to use colours.

I think that one of our most important use-cases is someone at home wanting to know how warm to dress, and whether to grab an umbrella on the way out the door. They need to know the day's forecast, and the max and min temperatures. This "Today:"/"Tonight:" box would visually separate this essential information from the rest of the menu. I might have a play around in Gimp in 12 hours...
