Bug Description
EFFECT
This is so annoying that I'm thinking about uninstalling wallch after few months of use. Great job, other than that.
SUGGESTION
Auto-fix: add a condition for fade effect so it would not appear (= solid, crude wallpaper change) if 'window focus' is not on the desktop / wallpaper, like watching a video or whatever window being opened and z-indexed over the desktop / wallpaper. Or maybe based proc usage.
OR
Manual-fix: ... simply option for disabling the fade change effect.

This is Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise x64
2x 2GHz proc
APU graphics latests drivers / most things fine HW accelerated

Sorry but this is a GNOME bug. Wallch just signals GNOME to change the wallpaper. The effect is added automatically and Wallch has no control over it.
To make things more frustrating, GNOME doesn't appear to have an option to turn off the effect
