copy and paste corrupted, unusable

When I VNC to any of our machines (Windows running Ultra VNC server, or Linux tinyVNC server) whenever I copy remote text I get what looks like garbage in the copy and paste manager in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick (local O/S).

Example:

When I copy the remote text "The command completed successfully." I get "¨—#" in the C&P buffer in Ubuntu.

As well I'm unable to copy and paste between tabs I have open (copy remote to paste remote).

I am seeing the same thing on my 10.10 i386 install. I can paste from desktop to a VNC window, but not vice versa. I get garbage. I did not see this in 10.04. I tried "SSL/SSH VNC Viewer" and see the same issue. I tried TightVNC and it works (although some other key sequences are not working - like <CTRL>-left mouse button in emacs to display a buffer list).

It's a pretty simple fix. Can we get it brought back to lucid & maverick before the have another release?

Looking at the source of gtk-vnc 0.4.2-0ubuntu3 in Natty this bug appears to be fixed so I'll mark it so and open Lucid and Maverick tasks for the bug.

This bug affects Ubuntu 10.10, Maverick Meerkat. Maverick has reached end-of-life and is no longer supported, so I am closing the bugtask for Maverick. Please upgrade to a newer version of Ubuntu.
