Screen flickering when wallpaper changes in Ubuntu 17.04

Hello I am using Variety 0.6.4 installed on Ubuntu 17.04. Whenever the wallpaper changes the screens are flickering until i click on the desktop. I use Unity. The only solution found up until now was to uninstall variety. How can I solve the issue with this flickering? I have attached some output from terminal when typing variety and variety -v

The problem does not show anymore in Ubuntu 17.10

Wontfix'ing this accordingly: 17.04 is EOL and the problem seems fixed.
