Bug Description
First off, great product, i really like Variety, more so than any other wallpaper changer i've used in the past.
I just noticed that if an image is not as tall as the screen, Variety will zoom the image in to fill the whole height of the screen, which of course leaves the left and right parts of the image off the screen. A by-product of that can be seen if you have quotes enabled to hug the right side of your page, the quote will be cut-off on the right side because part of that page is off the screen. (Think "pan-scan" cropping of widescreen movies).
I've used other wallpaper changers in the past that had options to manage this...
1) zoom an image in to fill the whole screen (current behavior),
2) scale the image to fit the screen (preserves the whole image but changes the aspect ratios), or
3) preserve aspect ratio while fitting at least one dimension to the screen (will leave black bars at the top and bottom, or right and left, like watching a widescreen movie on a square monitor).
This would be a great improvement, and i would be able to see and read all the quotes that Variety pops up. I'm using version 0.6.4 and linux mint 18.3 mate.
thanks for your time,
-dave
Zoom and scale are options specific to your desktop environment. MATE should allow you to turn it off somewhere in settings, though I don't the exact name of the option. (try right clicking your desktop and seeing what pops up)
