Bug Description

HOW TO REPRODUCE:
1. Open Variety (preferences).
2. In the general tab, click on the "add" button.

RESULT:
The menu shows up in the upper right corner of the desktop, instead by the "add" button.

Upstream bug for this is https://bugs.launchpad.net/variety/+bug/1598298. Patch appreciated, especially if tested to work in several DEs on both 14.04 and 16.04.
