Bug Description

Version 0.5.2, Using Lubuntu 14.04.1 on an ARMv7l Processor from Odroid, with LXDE desktop environment. (unable to do step 4)

I let it run, and enjoy the changing background and quotes, but after ~10 min, the screen kicks into another desktop environment (KDE I think), and asks for a login. When its entered, it goes back to my normal LXDE environment. I've disabled my screensaver, and it still does this Lock Screen thing. It didn't do it before I installed Variety.

observances:
1. Seems to be something with permissions, as I am unable to delete stuff from folders if it starts up automatically.
2. If I stop changing backgrounds, it doesn't have problems.
3. This is a low memory computer, so the switching might cause it to crash from lack of memory. (As I have problems with the browser on occasion, but only cuts to failed to load screen there).

You may have to search in you logs /var/log, dmesg, etc. I suppose Variety regularly changing the background causes something to crash. That's not a bug I will be able to reproduce or fix though.

I don't think your screen is going "into another desktop environment" (this would be completely bizarre), but rather a lock/login screen showing a different UI. A lot of desktop environments have not only screensaver settings but also power settings that control screen blanking+locking and similar if the system is inactive. Maybe take a look at those settings?

If your entire X session is crashing due to a lack of memory, then it /may/ kick you back onto your login screen. But that is not a Variety issue per se.
