Sorry, the only response here is "Don't Do That Then"

The script is not intended to be run manually, and as you've discovered, when run without setting MOUNTPOINT it will wipe your root filesystem.

For testing, you should have done:

  start mounted-tmp MOUNTPOINT=/tmp
