update-notifier-kde does not appear is systray

Bug Description
When updates are available, the "Update Manager" icon no longer appears in the system tray. A notification message is displayed, and they must then be manually installed using KPackageKit or Synaptic.
Running Kubuntu Karmic upgraded from Jaunty on an HP Pavilion dv6000. I have installed two sets of updates at this point, and the systray icon appeared in neither.
