Bug Description
Update Manager locks up when downloading package information. No files are downloaded and I cannot cancel the window or perform any other operation. If I force quit the two windows and attempt to start Update Manager again, I get the following warning: There is another synaptic running in non-interactive mode. Please wait for it to finish first.

Running Ubuntu Karmic on a MacbookPro1,1.
