Bug Description

Upon running dist-upgrade, Jaunty to Karmic, I received a dialog box stating the following:

"Invalid package information

After your package information was updated the essential package 'ubuntu-minimal' can not be found anymore.
This indicates a serious error, please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report."

Uninstalling and reinstalling ubuntu-minimal seemed to have worked for me, not sure if that's the right way to go or not though.

I get the same error. Uninstalling/ reinstalling ubuntu-minimal didn't do anything, either. I'm going to try the alt-cd upgrade now. Hope that works. Attached is the logs.

Got the same problem. The message told me I should attach the logs from /var/log/dist-upgrade, so they're included.

I got it to work by manually changing my sources.list to maverick packages, installing the updated ubuntu-minimal, manually reverting back to the old lucid sources, removing the updated ubuntu-minimal and installing the old one.

I didn't try it but it would probably have the same effect if you just completely removed ubuntu minimal and then installed it again (don't just hit reinstall).

Same error (lucid -> maverick). Removal and reinstallation of ubuntu-minimal failed to work.
