screenlet flashes on and off when openoffice writer v2.4 has focus

Bug Description
I'm running screenlet v0.4 with Ubuntu dapper drake using the following:
x 1101
y 0
scale 1.
(the following are true, all others false)
stick
widget
lock
keep below
skip pager
skip taskbar
allow overriding
ask on overrideot
when ever I have focus on openoffice.org writer the entire screenlet flashes off then on every 1 to 2 seconds. I have clock, network name, kernel, prcessor useage, load, memory use, IP address, up/download, disk useage, battery level and wireless status on the screenlet
