Bug Description

currently (with what's in generic_x86/ubuntu-touch/devel) there seems to be a rather big memory leak in the first boot animation (the thing that stays there jiggling until you do the walkthrough or click skip). unity8 went from using 3% (of 1GB) to over 50% in something like 5 minutes.

Leaving it unattended results in the emulator OOMing.

Duplicate of bug #1294373 - it's anything QML that leaks, not just unity8.

FYI the boot animation is managed by its own tiny program: /usr/bin/unity-system-compositor-spinner. So unity8 leaks are likely unrelated to it specifically.
