unity8-lxc problems (setup and login)

Because of LP: #1464365 I decided to try unity8. Going through the steps in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Unity8inLXC in an ssh session (because desktop login is unavailable due to the previous bug), unity-lxc-setup ends with:

Starting the container
usage: unity8-lxc-setup [-h] [--rebuild-all] [--rebuild-config]
                        [--rebuild-rootfs] [--redownload] [--test SECONDS]
                        [--destroy] [--update-lxc]
unity8-lxc-setup: error: Unable to start the container.

I decided anyway to reboot and choose the Unity 8 LXC session in the lightdm greeter. When I do, the box to enter my password disappears but lightdm never goes away and no login ever happens.

Hey Barry,

I take it your host is 15.10. If so, I think you may be hitting bug #1468611.

Also, if you are indeed on 15.10, I would suggest using unity8-desktop-session-mir since it's less prone to other issues such as the bug pointed out above.

Thanks Christopher. I am indeed on 15.10. I installed the suggested package and reboot. When I logged in with Unity8, I got what looks like a mobile login screen (round circle with "No data sources available"). The resolution is way off (i.e. does not fill the 3440x1440 screen) and nothing responds to mouse clicks or keyboard input.

I would file a separate bug under unity8-desktop-session and/or unity8 for the issues you see.

sudo unity8-lxc-setup --rebuild-all
I have got the same issue; and take this order it could redownload and install the unity8's container.
