I have the same problem with ubuntu 12.04.
If I minimize application there is no way to restore it back.

Same problem but didn't try the precise-proposed repo.
Apps that disappear:
luma (started via gnome-terminal)
evince (started via kile viewpdf button)
Besides the fact that they don't appear in that unity bar, is there any remote way of calling them back to gnome?!? even by command line or combination of keystrokes

This does not happen in 15.10. Is it still happening in 12.04?
