unity-panel-service process is constantly consuming ca. 10% of my CPU even when the laptop is idle.

Marius, do you have seconds showing in your datetime indicator? If so then this is a duplicate of bug 813409.

I don't have seconds display enabled, but I have some extra indicator applications installed.

Also the bug with date not updated when first clicking the time indicator is back...

I have configured the System Load Indicator. After stopping it, unity-panel-service stops consuming CPU and works fine. In classic gnome, System Load Indicator is consuming cpu. So I think this can be a good clue.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. We have tried to recreate this on the latest release of Ubuntu and cannot reproduce it. This bug is being marked as Invalid. If you believe the problem to still exist in the latest version of Ubuntu, please comment on why that is the case and change the bug status to NEW.

The unity-panel-service process shows 0 % CPU when idle, with or without System Load Indicator running.
