Bug Description

I am running the current development version of precise.

A few weeks ago, it has become much more difficult (if not impossible) for people that cannot move their fingers fast to launch applications by using the icon in the launcher.

In fact, the delay between the mouse button down and mouse button up seems has to be less than little 0.3 seconds to have it considered as a click. If the mouse button up does not occur in this little time frame, the icon passes into drag mode.

I added the term regression to the title of this bug, because in oneiric (and until few weeks ago in precise) the delay between mouse button down and mouse button up was larger.

Now I wonder why there has to be a delay? Could the procedure not simply check for mouse movements and compare them to the drag treshold defined in the system settings?

By the way, the dash icon in the launcher seems to have preserved its previous behaviour.

Added ayatana-design for design feedback, my clicks are quite fast so never had this issue but I can understand different people have different ways to click

Omer; removing ayatana-design because this value should not have changed, and if it has it is a technical regression.

no longer affects: ayatana-design

Well, shouldn't we just stick to using the drag threshold as defined in System Settings?

The regression is still occurring in Unity 6.0.0 that is shipping with the current development version of quantal.
