Bug Description
If I fx open the apps lens, choose Games, and start typing nothing appears in the text entry. I have to click the search entry with the mouse to move keyboard input focus to it.
I think a generally sensible keyboard input handling for dash like search interfaces is to treat any non-navigational keyboard input as text for the entry. The hint text in th entry also seems to inspire in that direction.

<njpatel> gord, kamstrup I think we need to do what we did before, which is forward key events to the search entry if they aren't handled
