Bug Description

I recently upgraded to Oneiric Ocelot beta1.

By default, I logged in to unity 3d interface. I use firefox version 8 (aurora).

* I have two windows of firefox running (with around 190 tabs).
* When I maximize or un-maximize my firefox windows, the window title bar disappears on one of the windows.
* So, I have to use keyboard short cuts for minimize or maximize operations

Also, I noticed that when this problem happens, my task switcher (alt-tab) works weirdly. If I go to firefox, evolution etc. on the task switcher, the window of that app does not come up. It remains in a minimized state on the side bar.

The only way to recover from this problem is to quit/kill firefox and restart again, but the problem appears in a short while.
Alternately, I have switched to Unity 2d and the problem is gone.

This problem is not seen in chrome for eg. I saw some similar behaviour with evolution and other apps but I am not sure of what the exact behaviour was.

It is not limited to Firefox. It can happen with Chrome too. I just had the issue while trying to reproduce the problem. The attached file contains the xwininfo log.

The Google part may be a false positive. I had had the bug with Firefox already and the association of Chrome windows with their menu was perturbated it seemed. But so was the Firefox association with its own menus.

However, I can reproduce the issue with Firefox consistently.

I have a similar experience with maximised new email windows in Evolution (#862231). A temporary workaround for me is to disable "Legacy Fullscreen Support" in Workarounds in CCSM. Does that "fix" the issue with Firefox (albeit not properly)?

Hummm... with latest upgrade (unity 4.22.0-0ubuntu1), I get the problem again when opening a libreoffice file from thunderbird attachment.
So it does not seem to be fixed here (so screenshot).

Still broken with unity 4.22.0-0ubuntu3.
Opening a LibreOffice document from Thunderbird attachments will open a decoration-less / unknown from launcher / switcher instance of LibreOffice.
This does not happen systematically, but it does happen frequently. Last time I tried, I had two attachments in the same mail, first opened ok, second opened with the bug showing.

Bug status says Fix-released... should I open a new report ? Or mark my original bug as not duplicate of this one ?

Buttons disappearing happens very often with LibreOffice suite and Pidgin. The only way to navigate to windows affected is by minimizing those in foreground. Launcher icon stays, but doesn't allow to show said windows.

I notice that the problem happens because LibreOffice shows splash window first.

And I can suggest you some tricks to avoid this.
Just add --nologo parameter into the application's run command (Exec=libreoffice --nologo ...) in each file named /usr/share/applications/libreoffice-*.desktop, and stop to keep launchers on Unity panel. Splash window won't be shown, but window control buttons, icon on Unity panel and in window switcher would appear.
